The Disciplinary Tribunal has found that Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation of 3 Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.
AIU Head Brett Clothier has indicated the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) is disappointed by this decision and will review the reasoning in detail before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within the applicable deadline. The decision is currently confidential but will be published in due course.
Amusan’s provisional suspension has now been lifted with immediate effect.
Could have risked 12 month ban or longer
The Anti-Doping Rule the athlete was XX to have violated is 2.4 - Whereabouts Failures by an Athlete
If an athlete is not able to be at the specified location at the nominated time, the athlete must let the National Anti-Doping Organization or the Sport Federation know as soon as possible.
Failure to be available for testing at the nominated time at the nominated location at the nominated time is a missed a test. A missed test may lead to an anti-doping rule violation and sanction.
In the Anti-Doping Database we have registered 50 violations of this rule in Track and Field alone. Most athletes who is banned for breaking this rule are sidelined for at least 12 months.
We have registered that of all athletes that has been sanctioned for violating article 2.4, 61 were banned for 1 year. 51 was banned for 2 years and 13 for 18 months.
Ten athletes has been given a 4 year suspension
Ready for World Championships
Amusan was at risk of being disqualified from the World Championships in Budapest.
Amusan is the women's 100m hurdles world record holder which she sat at the semi-finals at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon in July 2022.
She can now defend the gold medal she won in Oregon when she crossed the finishing line in 12.06 seconds. It was not count as a new world record because of too much tailwind.
The World Championships in Track and Field stats on August 19 and ends on August 27.
